Earth Science Frontiers is an open-access peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing original theoretical and applied researches across all disciplines of earth sciences. Each issue is centered on a specific geoscience subject, organized by expert(s) in the field, including Earth Matter Science (lithology, gitology, mineralogy, crystallography, geochemistry), Earth Structure, Tectonics and Dynamics (structural geology, geotectonics, plate tectonics, continental dynamics, cosmogeology, geophysics, geochemistry, experimental high T-P petrology), Earth Surface Science (environmental geology and global change, hazard geology, hydrology and engineering geology, geomorphology and Quaternary geology, mining, geology and energy resources, applied geochemistry and geophysics, stratigraphic paleontology), recently Deep Geothermal Resources, Genetic Mineralogy, Deep-time Life and Environment, Urban Underground Development or Geological Big Data, with emphasis on innovative basic geoscience researches that are frontier, emerging, multidisciplinary, hotspot, or may be considered contentious. Each issue also publishes number of articles on self-selected subjects, as well as short communications.
Founded in 1994 and co-sponsored by Peking University since 2005, Earth Science Frontiers is published bi-monthly at the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Beijing, China. It mainly publishes in Chinese, with English titles, abstracts and figure captions; periodically it also publishes in English selected articles by international authors or translated feature articles published in the same issue.
